Looking Back at Round 1 of UCS and Ligier JS CUP France

Our Race Weekend at Round 2 of the Ligier JS Cup France

Following our opening round at Le Mans, we were determined to fight for a podium finish in this second event at Magny-Cours. The first race had allowed us to gain valuable experience and learn important lessons, both about the car and about our overall approach to a race weekend. Thanks to those learnings, we arrived at Magny-Cours better prepared, more confident, and ready to challenge for the top positions.

Practice and Qualifying: Limited Running, but a Fantastic Qualifying Session

Practice running was unfortunately limited, as the same issue we had encountered at Le Mans resurfaced: a fuel pump failure. This problem cost us valuable track time, preventing us from completing as many laps as planned. However, our mechanics worked tirelessly to resolve the issue and ensure the car was ready in time for qualifying.

Their efforts paid off, as Romain Boeckler took the wheel for the qualifying session and delivered an outstanding performance, securing a magnificent pole position!

The Race: A Strong Start, but a Very Disappointing Mechanical Failure

Romain Boeckler took the start and, from the very first laps, an intense battle developed between the three leading cars. He delivered an excellent stint and remained in close contention with the leaders throughout his time behind the wheel.

Arthur Fournier then took over and also completed a very strong stint, combining consistency and performance while maintaining a highly competitive pace.

For his first stint, Sean Canivet climbed into the car and immediately showed impressive speed, setting a very competitive pace. However, after 2 hours and 30 minutes of racing, a mechanical failure brought our race to an unfortunate end, forcing us to retire while we were still fighting for the leading positions.

Key Takeaways: We Have the Pace and the Performance

This mechanical failure did not only force us to retire from the race; several other competitors experienced the same issue during the event. This confirms that the problem was related to the car itself and not to the work of our technical team, who delivered an outstanding effort throughout the entire weekend.

Despite the disappointment, we are choosing to focus on the positives. We proved that we have the pace, the speed, and a driver lineup capable of fighting for victory. These performances give us great confidence heading into the remainder of the season.

We remain determined and highly motivated to bounce back at the next round at Spa-Francorchamps, where we will give everything we have to secure a podium finish.
